Let me tell you a little story about motivation. Right now, Luke is motivated to earn money towards a new remote controlled car. He has been doing some jobs around the house to earn money and was officially “added to the payroll.” I think it has been a bit eye opening for him to realize how slowly the money adds up, but he has still been sticking it out. Today he told me that Krista earned $5 for her lost teeth, yet the tooth fairy only gave him $2. I was forced to have an open and honest conversation with him about the economy and how the value of teeth fluctuates with the stock market – ya know, five-year-old stuff! He disappeared after our conversation and I didn’t see him for quite some time. Eventually he emerged from the bathroom, blood dripping from his smiling face, and held up a tooth that may have been yanked a bit prematurely. “There, I have the rest of the money for my car!”
