Cruz fell asleep before I gave him his medicine tonight. I thought he was just playing in his room but when I checked, he had fallen asleep on top of his covers and still in his clothes.
I felt so bad, but I had to wake him up to give him his meds – one was an anti-seizure medication and the other was a vasodilator for his heart condition. I just couldn’t skip a dose.
He struggled and fussed because he didn’t know what I was doing. I had to sit him up and give him a glass of water and then his two syringes of medicine.
When I was done, he rested his head back down on his pillow and snuggled into bed. I covered him up and as I walked out of his room, I heard him say, “I love you.”
I turned around and walked over to him, knelt down and kissed him on the cheek. “I love you, too, sweetheart.”
He smiled in his sleep then said, “I love you so much.”
This is my joy. The sweet, tender moments where I feel God smiling down on us saying, “I created you for each other and through the love you share, there, too, is My love for you.”
